POETRY CREATIVE WRITING VULNERABILITY

A poem

The innocence of a child; photo courtesy of Robert Parr.

Strip it all away
Disassemble the persona
Deconstruct the walls put up
Brick by brick

Stop the sound
Silence the false sentiment
Take off the mask
Remove everything

Now it is just you and your skin
Absolute
Bare

Now I see the truth
Vulnerable
Broken

The intricate veils hide nothing
This esoteric facade has failed
The deceit and lies are jarring

Strip it all away
Disassemble the persona
Deconstruct the walls put up
Brick by brick

And, let me see you.
